Day 28: Flower

Actually kinda hard to find a pretty flower in the middle of winter.  My first stop was at a local park.  Plan B was a florist and Plan C was to simply take a picture of a fake flower.  Oddly enough the least likely place to have a flower this time of year was exactly the place where I got my best shot.

Day 27: From a Distance

I'm not sure how other photographers feel but I always find it a challenge in finding new location for a shoot.  You have your old stand-bys (some of which I really do love) but to keep things fresh and exciting for you and those that view your work I think a change of scenery can make a world of difference.  The hard part about finding a new location is getting out there.  Sometimes the best views are those at which you more than likely shouldn't be.  Not that it actually says "off limits"... it may just cause you to get some strange stares.  But if you can ignore the stares then your free to get the shot you're after.

So that's how I got my shot below.

Day 26: Up close

Here's my up close photo.  I saw this outside and thought it looked rather interesting.  I knew what it was but honestly I thought it looked like it could be a lot of things.  Wanna take a guess as to what it is?

Day 25: Something Pink

Here's my little girl with her something pink.

Day 24: Animal

So I've already taken enough pictures of my cat and unfortunately he is the only animal we have the house (besides two little monkeys:).  I actually did walk outside to look for insects or something, but too cold.  Since the theme didn't state that it had to be a real animal I went for option B- a toy animal.  My only question now is ...a dragon is considered an animal, right?

Day 23: Sun flare

A few days behind again....  but here we go.  My sun flare photo.  When I look at this photo it reminds me of the Lord of the Rings movie ...Frodo Baggins, Gandalf, Middle Earth...

Day 22: Hands

Oddly enough this theme has been an idea that I was considering for a conceptual photo series.  So I guess this means that I can now check both items off my to do list.

I love the expression of emotions in photographs ...which (as a side point) why I love photographs of and photographing people.  To that accord, our hands can be used as an expressive extension to a variety of powerful emotions.  As I thought through a few emotions I played around with how my hands would convey that message.  It was amazing how a slight tweak completely changed the hand's expressions.  I've included the emotion I saw in the hands but I wouldn't be surprised if you saw something a little different.  I'd love to hear about what you see!

Day 21: Faceless Self Portrait

So this one could have gone in some interesting directions.  I tried a couple of ideas but the shot below is by far my favorite.  I love the rich colors!

Day 20: Bokeh

Bokeh:  The fuzzy background found in some pictures.  There mystery solved.  :)

Day 19: Something Orange

Here is our orange Oscar cat.

Day 18: Your Shoes

These boots were made for walking and that's just what they'll do...

Day 17: Technology

I know, I know... I'm WAY behind.  So now I'm playing catch-up!

Here is my photo of automotive technology.
I'd like to take a moment to stop and thank the cave man!  Without his round wheel who knows what our modern day cars would look like.  ;)

Day 16: Long Exposure

So I had a couple of ideas for this theme but scheduling wise I wasn't able to get around to any of them.  I didn't want to wait around too long and get further and further behind on my days (I'm already working a day behind).  It was then that I thought of a conceptual photography artist, Brooke Shaden (whose work I've have really enjoyed lately).  I remember her talking about one of her photos in which she used a long exposure on a dark beach.  The photo was great so I thought I would give it a try ...minus the dark beach.  I could have lightened the photo a bit but I think that it would have taken away from the mood and I love the mood that the long exposure created.  And look I'm a ghost!  Hee hee this was fun!

Day 15: Silhouette

So if I had looked ahead I would have realized that my photo for Day 12 would have worked with today's theme.  But I didn't so I headed out the door to take some more photos.  I have two photos for this theme.  I couldn't decide which one I liked more so I posted them both.  Do you have a fav?

I love how the clouds help to create a line of brightness across the middle of this photo.

This is an old, rundown barn which was actually very beautiful.  I also thought it made an interesting silhouette (especially with the hole in the roof).

Day 14: Eyes

I've always loved his eyes.  Such beautiful colors...

Day 13: Me with 13 Things

So it's taken me a few days to get this post up here but for good reason.  I could not for the life of me figure out what I wanted to do for this theme.  I'm never crazy about pictures of myself which made this task even more difficult.  So after a few days this is what I decided to try.  It reminds me of a masquerade mask...

Day 12: Sunset

Here's my photo of a sunset.  The sunset wasn't so spectacular this evening but I thought I found a cute subject to photograph.

Day 11: Something Blue

Here's my something blue ...Ha Ha!

Day 10: A Childhood Memory

My Dad was in the military when I was growing up so we moved around a lot.  In addition to those moves we did a lot of road trips.  It didn't really matter where we were going.  Just spending time together as a family was the best.

Day 9: Someone You Love

Ok so this is more of "someones I love" ..but I couldn't put one up here without the other.

Day 8: A Bad Habit

So today's theme was a bad habit which could have made for an awkward photo.  But after giving it some thought I decided to go with something that my husband says is my biggest bad habit ...not being a good listener.  Sorry hubby.  Love ya though!

Day 7: Fruit

Here is my fruit photo.  I had another idea for a fruit photo that I may try at a later date!

Day 6: From a Low Angle

To make up from missing a couple of days I decided to post two pictures for Day 6.  I took both of these photos while lying on the floor.  Our cat Oscar was looking out the window and I thought it would make for a nice photograph.  I think the first photo makes for a great portrait.

For the second photo I turned my camera out the window to see what Oscar was looking at.  What I saw through my lens was this gorgeous web of branches.

Day 5: From a High Angle

You wouldn't think that one little birthday party would put you two days behind on taking photos.  But that is exactly what happened.  So here is my Day 5 photo.  I'll hopefully post Day 6 and 7 later today.  We'll see...

Day 4: Something Green

Here's my something green.  Guess who's birthday it is today!?  Happy Birthday to my Big Boy!

Day 3: Clouds

The light was fading fast and yup I still didn't have a cloud photo.  So last minute plan ...point the camera out the car window and capture a random cloud.  Oddly enough I still kinda like it.

Day 2: What You Wore Today

Day 1: Self Portrait

I should have posted this yesterday but here is my photo for theme #1:  Self portrait.  This is a conceptual photo I did for a contest.  The photo was originally a "who done it" idea but I think it works as my self portrait too.
